This place is great although I have never stayed in the rooms. Great staff and canoes. Also there is a man there named Gary he is awesome.
I didn't stay here but I used Gordon's for a Buffalo River overnight canoe trip. I never write bad reviews on places but I was very upset with my experience here so I'm writing one now. The staff was generally pretty friendly, but the older lady who runs the place was incredibly rude and unaccommodating. I've never experienced such poor customer service before. We arrived early evening on a Friday and no one was in the office. Eventually the older lady comes down but she tells us she can't even talk to us because she's got to go to her grandson's graduation, that it's too late now to go out for the day and to come back tomorrow. Being close with your family is good, but she was so rude in how she handled the whole situation. I had reserved a head of time for a specific portion of the river (she had said on the phone that wouldn't be a problem), but when we showed up we were informed that that's not where the van was going that day. So we put in somewhere else. We had arranged a pick up point on the following day, but my buddy's asthma starting giving him problems so we didn't make it all the way. We called for a pickup at a different location, closer to the motel. They said it would be about 3 hrs before they could get to us. Eventually we rode back to Jasper with another motel, Riverview, because they were there and agreed to take us in. We paid for it ourselves. When we get back I asked the same woman if we could be refunded for our $8 per person van transport fee becuase we didn't use it and got back to the motel with plenty of time to let the van know they didn’t need to pick us up. She said they would have to pay for our van trip from Riverview as the reason why she wouldn't refund us. When I told her we paid for it ourselves, she still wouldn't budge. She stubbornly refused to grant what I think was a very reasonable request. In every interaction I had with her, I felt that she was not only being unprofessional, but just downright rude. We loved the river and will definitely canoe it again, but we will not be returning to Gordon's.
Extremely nice people had nothing but a positive experience with the husband and wife. We rented a raft 2 days from them. Anyone complaining about having to pay a pickup fee is ridiculous. This is how these people make money seasonally!! All rental places have pick up fees. Beautiful Town!! I love Jasper and The Buffalo until next time thanks for The Southern Hospitality !!!!
I love the Gordon Motel. Mrs. Gordon is always friendly and helpful (and we help her out sometimes too). The other guests we have met while staying have also been friendly and are great to chat with. My favorite thing is sitting on the bench by the office outside just people watching the local Jasper traffic roll by. The rooms are not in great condition but the hospitality is in true good ol' southern fashion.
i have stayed with these people and they always treated me nice and rooms are decent, beautiful place in the north partt of the state
